We have recently seen events for Europe Day. When does this celebration apply and what does it mean for Brussels?
Europe’s Day is celebrated on May 5 by the Council of Europe and May 9th by the European Union and symbolizes peace and prosperity in the European area. Especially at the European Union level it has been celebrated since 1985 (by European communities). It is essentially a reminder of history and those achieved in its operation and an opportunity to re -prioritize the Union itself.
What does Europe mean to you and what is your opinion on the European Union?
I am clearly in favor of the values and ideas that the concept of Europe advocates. I believe that the European Union has created a fertile ground for cooperation between Member States and economic development, but I believe that many areas need to be improved to achieve even more positive results.
As for the European Commission, how do you judge the policies that have followed in recent years and what are the positions of the political group?
Due to the bureaucratic and time -consuming procedures established, unfortunately, the projected results have not been produced in the face of modern challenges. The basic positions of our team, ECR, include decentralization of powers, protection of the national identity of each Member State, citizens’ security and borders, enhancing the economy and partnerships between businesses.
Many blame Brussels of gathering powers. Do you agree with this view and what do you propose as a policy?
The truth is that a multitude of procedures provided are characterized by bureaucracy and unjustified delay, resulting in no major and immediate major issues, such as inflation and immigration. Our political team encourages the diffusion over the concentration of powers.
We have seen many rejoicing Greece’s very good appearance at Eurovision. What is your view of this?
This year’s participation of Greece certainly represented our mentality and culture to a satisfactory degree, while contributing to the dissemination of our tradition and the transmission of a loud message about the Pontian genocide. The appeal that testified and the positive attitude of the world towards corresponding initiatives and is undoubtedly a decent representation of our country in the particular musical competition.
