The opening of the anniversary retrospective photography exhibition of award-winning photographer, Doctor, and member of the academic community of the University of West Attica, Konstantinos Karabelas, was held with an exceptionally large public attendance and a warm reception at the exhibition space of the New City Hall of Peristeri, marking 30 years of his creative presence in the art of photography.
The exhibition constitutes a meaningful retrospective of the creator’s journey and work, presenting selected photographs from three decades of artistic and professional activity. Through the exhibition material, the themes that have defined his career are highlighted, including documentary photography, landscape, human presence, visual storytelling, and contemporary photographic expression, reflecting the evolution of his artistic vision and technique.
As the photographer himself notes, the exhibition is not merely a review of his journey, but also an opportunity for dialogue, reflection, and creative communication with the public. Through his photographs, he seeks to share images and experiences that have marked three decades of artistic exploration.
The exhibition has been curated by Dr. Grigoris Vlassas, Professor at the University of West Attica.
The event was honored by the presence of representatives from the academic community, local government, and the arts, including composer, actor, and writer Giannis Zouganelis, as well as actors Natalia Dragoumi, Alexandros Bourdoumis, Jenny Botsi, and numerous photography enthusiasts, collaborators, and individuals who have long followed the work of Konstantinos Karabelas.
The Mayor of Peristeri, Andreas Pachaturidis, addressed the event, referring to the significant and multifaceted career of the honored creator and emphasizing his contribution to the promotion of photography as a form of art, research, and education.
As part of the ceremony, he presented Konstantinos Karabelas with the “Honorary Distinction for Lifetime Contribution to the Art of Photography,” recognizing his long-standing artistic, educational, and scientific presence in the field of photography.
The exhibition will remain open to the public, offering visitors the opportunity to experience firsthand the work of a creator who, for three decades, has consistently served the art of photography by combining creativity, research, and education.
