A large crowd and distinguished guests visited the city, traveling from all over Greece such as Giannis Aivazis, Katerina Zarifi, Magda Tsegkou, etc., enjoying the rich program of events, which included, among others, lectures on the art of distillation at the Museum of Vine and Wine of the House of Man, visits to traditional cauldrons, painting and photography exhibitions on the theme of the vineyard and traditional distillation and of course music and dance activities in the central square of Tyrnavos throughout the festive two-day period. .
The start of the celebrations was marked by the speech of the Mayor of Tyrnavos, Mr. Stelios Tsikritsis, emphasizing the importance of the event for the local community and the promotion of the traditional products of the region, underlining the long-standing tradition of Tyrnavos in the production of “tsipouro”. At the same time, he referred to the efforts of the Municipality to strengthen agrotourism and attract visitors from all over Greece. Then, the Deputy Mayor of Culture, Ms. Eugenia Mamanou – Hatzi, focused on the importance of the event for the promotion of the cultural heritage of Tyrnavos and the local tradition in the production of “tsipouro”, as well as on the role that the celebration plays in strengthening cultural tourism. “Tsipouro” is inextricably linked to the identity of the local market, as it is a product that is produced with passion, with the tradition of distillation being passed down from generation to generation.
