What is leadership? What does one need to become a true leader? Is leadership only for corporate executives, political leaders and scientists? The well-known Cypriot businessman, author and founder of the “Zamboglou Family Foundation”, which supports children from underprivileged families through sponsorships, offering them the opportunity to study in the sciences and arts, Dr. Dimitrios Zamboglou gives his own personal answers through his book “Become your own leader”. The book has just been released by “Dianoia” Publications in Greece and Cyprus, with the literary editing of the well-known presenter Viky Hatzivasiliou.
Rather than presenting a series of further problems to consider, the book urges the reader to take action and find solutions. Through a series of simple exercises solved in a fun way, it helps the reader examine their personal leadership choices and commitments and begin to structure their next move. The core of the book comes from Dr. Zaboglou’s PhD thesis at King’s College London, in which he researched high-yield traders and financial markets. Research into the behavior of merchants, combined with beloved heroes of Greek mythology such as Hercules, Icarus and the Minotaur, creates characters that everyone can identify with. “Every dream, no matter how small or big, can be pursued,” emphasizes Dr. Zamboglou, pointing out that this book does not expect the reader to have any talent, as, as he notes, “it is subjective and variable depending on the circumstances”. “For me, this book is a guide. If the reader decides that he wants to change his life, then only he can seek to read it,” notes the author.
A few words about the author Dr. Dimitrios Zamboglou has appeared on the cover of Forbes and has received various awards and accolades, such as “Arabian Business 40 under 40” and “Square Mile 30 under 30”. His PhD in Behavioral Finance at King’s College was funded not only by the University, but also by tech giants such as Amazon and Microsoft. He became the first Cypriot to join the Young Leaders Circle (YLC) of the Milken Institute, leading him to a series of management positions at some of the largest brokers in the world.
